Hi! My name is Tommy and in early 2020 I decided I wanted to leave my role as a supply chain coordinator and pursue a career as a DevOps engineer.

Unfortunately the height of a global pandemic and recession isn’t exactly the perfect time to be thinking about a career change!

However bad timing not withstanding I was determined to make the switch. Zero to DevOps is the story of my efforts to make this switch. From someone who’s never worked in the IT industry and is lacking in nearly all the prerequisite competencies to a fully skilled up DevOps professional.

There was a lot to do. It’s lucky the lockdowns provided so much time for learning!

I’m happy to report that I succeeded in what I set out to do. After a lot of hard graft and many courses / certifications I landed a job as a DevOps Engineer. This blog continues to be a story of the things I learn and the projects I’ve built throughout my time in DevOps and into the future.
